Dello’s Montepulciano 2022
Tightly coiled with energy to burn, it packs a powerful punch. A lush deep purple in the glass, it throws raspberry, dark cherry and plum aromas on the nose. Firm dry tannins on the palate provide balance, length and poise. Perfectly paired with your favourite Italian meal.

From my tastings of many “Monte’s” from around the world and Australia, it is deemed a good alternative to Shiraz. A variety that is very late in ripening and is as tough as they come. I like to drink Monte and hence I have wanted to make one for a long time. The vineyard is in the northern side of the Adelaide Hills. It is on a tough piece of dirt and yet it seems to survive and even laugh at this. The grapes were “Selectiv” picked early in the morning on the 24 March. The grapes were fermented in small batches and hand plunged. The wine was left on skins for extra maturation and then pressed to large format French Oak barrels. This wine shows dark fruits of cherry, blackberries and plum with a pronounced grainy tannin structure that last throughout the wine. It has great deep colour which was a hallmark for this variety.
