The 2013 Shiraz is a special wine delivered from the Adelaide Hills’ Longview vineyard – in a region with a strong reputation for producing great Shiraz.
The grapes were handpicked in March – plump, ripe berries bursting with flavour. Whole berries and some whole bunches were put into a fermenter and left to sit. A slow, even fermentation – on skins for a month – was then pressed off to French oak, a portion treated to new oak. This wine has an instant appeal. It is balanced with juicy plum and blackberry and a layer of spice that lingers on the palate. The French oak sits nicely and is very well integrated in the wine.

“Whole berry, with some whole bunches, fermented and left on skins for prolonged post-fermentation maceration. Deep crimson purple; black cherry fruit is swathed in super fine, but persistent, tannins ex the long maceration – which has not been overdone. This has the style to flourish in bottle for decades.”
